The Outside Line Company
What we do for The Outside Line Company
The Outside Line Company builds and maintains power infrastructure for the electric utility market across five states. Founded in 2023, they needed a site that speaks to the people who award utility contracts rather than to the general public. We designed and built it for fifteen hundred dollars: the federal industry codes published on the page, both controlled documents downloadable, and the full five-state footprint named rather than implied.
The Outside Line Company builds and maintains power infrastructure for the electric utility market. They were founded in 2023 and work across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, from Virginia down through Tennessee.
What we built
Most contractor websites are written for a homeowner. This one is not, and that was the whole design problem.
Utility work is awarded by procurement people. They are not browsing. They arrive with a specific requirement, a specific state and a specific set of codes, and they are checking whether you match before they ever pick up a phone. A site that opens with a stock photo and the word “quality” tells them nothing they can act on.
So the page leads with what they came to check.
The codes are on the page
Five federal industry codes, published in plain sight. That is not decoration. It is how a buyer confirms you are classified for the work they are putting out, and most contractor sites make you email someone to find out.
Five states, named
Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee. Not “the Southeast”. A buyer in Tennessee should not have to interpret a region to work out whether you cover them.
Two controlled documents, ready to download
A company brochure and a safety manual, both carrying document numbers and a revision letter. In this trade a controlled document with a revision on it says something about how the company runs that a paragraph of copy cannot.
Safety, given its own room
Safety is the first thing a utility evaluates in a line contractor, so it has its own section and its own downloadable manual rather than a sentence on an about page.
Fifteen hundred dollars
Design and build, start to finish. The site is one focused page and a safety manual route, which is the right shape for a business whose customers arrive already knowing what they need. It weighs one hundred and sixty four kilobytes compressed and the server answers in about three tenths of a second.
Services
Web Design
A single focused page plus a safety manual route, built for a buyer who arrives knowing what they need. Federal industry codes, a named five-state footprint, thirteen capability lines and two downloadable controlled documents, with click-to-call and direct email rather than a form nobody in this trade would fill in.
What our AI platform found
Utility work is awarded through procurement rather than through a contact form, so the site carries the five federal industry codes a buyer searches by, published on the page instead of buried in a document.
Two revision-controlled documents, the company brochure and the safety manual, are downloadable from the home page, because a controlled document with a revision letter is the currency of this trade.
The service footprint is named state by state, Virginia through Tennessee, rather than described as a region, since a buyer is checking whether their own state is on the list.
Six distinct buyer types, from military and municipalities through investor-owned utilities and renewable developers, each need to see themselves on the page.
Safety is the first thing this industry evaluates, so it has its own section and its own document rather than a line in an about page.
